I am still alive!

Well first of all I am still alive and doing well. I have a new job working for the State of Arizona as a PC Lab Engineer, and what that really means is I am the guy that gets to fix all of the broken stuff in the building which holds just over 800 people or users as we call them.

Anyway my family is doing well and my wife will soon have a new job where she is temping and we will be on the way to owning a house soon after that I hope!

My son Jonathan just won a award at kindergarten for best helper and all around good student! Man he is growing fast, and he learning to spell and read and is doing very well on both fronts.

And of course in a week and a half I will be on my way to GenCon SoCal in sunny Anaheim CA. Where I will be running games for Eden Studios so if you are in the area look me up.

a little late but better than never!

Hey all just wanted to drop a line and say I am alive! I just got done chatting with my bro Brian, over yahoo IMing. While configuring my new laptop to work with Fedora Core 2 linux. I recommend it very much very cool distro based off of RedHat 9.

Anyway got me to thinking that I have not updated the blog in a bit! so here I go, ...Taking the wife out to a cheap movie on Monday, yeah thats right if you remember I used to work for Perot Services....not anymore baby!!! I am a state employee now!!! Wow what a cool job! I am the manager of the PC Lab dept and in charge of all of the pc's for the whole agency! What agency you ask...the Dept. of Enviormental Qaulity. A great place to work very casual and friendly place to work.

So with that I get a holiday which I would not have gotten at Perot! oh and I got a pay raise too! So all is good here at casa Polack cept the wife Evelyn is still looking for work! But she has some stuff on the burners, so hopefully we shall hear something soon!

So anyway I have to take the family out to the used book store here on the other side of town. So I am out to enjoy the fine sunny fall day here in Phoenix AZ.

It's been awhile

Hey all, well it's been awhile since my last post, whats going on! Well for starters I totalled my car a 2000 Hyundai Sonata! fully loaded! now it was used and high milage, but hey it was my car! Well now it's parts in the car graveyard!!! I am ok and was able to walk away with minor cuts and bruises, but I think I will live.

As for gaming I have a new group great guys. We play Mutants and Masterminds every other week and we are playtesting Warhammer FRPG for Green Ronin. I have not recieved the playtest docs but it sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

Other than that just work as normal. On the good foot I have a cool job interview this Monday I am looking forward to that! wish me luck

A nifty tool for your desktop in XP!

Hey all,

Reading the latest copy of Windows XP Answers mag (a great little mag out of England) I found this little gem: http://www.desktopsidebar.com/index.html

Now when you look at this and if you are a linux head (and you know who you are!) this will look alot like GKrellM a system tool status monitor for most distro's of Linux! Well I have to use XP to support my customers and play my pc games ( a man can not live on cool code alone!)

I wanted to post a pic of it but can not argh! silly provider! Anyway just check the link and see what it looks like there.

So if you are like me and live in a XP world but want the Linux freedom here is a little slice of Linux look alike that will hopefully make you happy, I know I am digging on the app and I hope you do to. Let me know what you think. Oh and it's freeware too!

hey all update time!

Just wanted to drop a line and say hi to all!

So what's new...Hmm. Well lets see my son starts kindergarten in August and I am pretty excited about that. I have been doing a little side computer work and that has been fun!

City of Heroes Beta! WOW!!!

ok first of all let me say I have done quite a few betas in my time and this has to be about the best one I have seen! what am I talking about?! well City of heroes of course!

 

If you get a chance check out this game it rocks! The beta is out know and I believe if you sign up for the demo you can get in on the beta by buying the pre-order for $10.00 at the local pc stores.

Underworld the movie

Ok I have a subscription to www.netflix.com and let me tell you what a blessing this is the greatest service you can get!

So I just got Underworld in the mail and wtched it last night! What a great movie and I hear they are making a part 2. SWEET! is all I can say, I will be at the movies to see that one.

92 fricking degrees at the end of March!

Wow I know I live in the desert but man! 92 degree's in March! Wow if this is any indication of what is to come I might just move back to Cali!

On the up note we are looking at our first house out here! Man alot of work goes into this so please take my advise and be prepared! the local library is a great source of material for buying a house so check them out.

Aside from the roleplaying I have taken up moutain biking! Let me say when you are pushing 40 yrs. old and somewhat out of shape....Oww! is all I need say. I am riding my bike along the canal we have here to increase my stamina and while I got my ass kicked last time we went out I really did have a blast.

I have been silent!

Well my best bud turned me on to the software Blogjet (see blog below) and I must say very cool!

 

I have been silent with what I call life 101! You know the things that get in the way of the things you want to do! Well I have been stuck in life 101 for the last 2 months! But it looks like I am getting a poardon from the mayor (er that would be my wife!) We are trying to buy our first house and get all of our bills squared away. Man no easy task let me tell you. But I have set a goal to have my lil' bro paid off (you know who you are!). and to get my retirement in order. I have a great 401k plan at work and am getting the most out of it and with my wifes job I hope to be in a house by the end of summer early winter the latest.

Ahh...Friday! I have a great weekend ahead of me. I have a great new game to playtest for Red Spire Press and some friends coming over to help. Man it should be fun.

Then I am taking the little beast out for a bike ride at the local park and then a nice nap. Ahh life could not be better.

Ah Sunday night...the weekend is over and you find yourself getting ready for Monday and the grind ahead! I always get a little sad when the weekend is over. It's like a good friend came out to visit and you have to go and drop them off at the airport or watch them leave the driveway! Well at least you have fond memories of the time spent with your "friend" Mr. Weekend, then I remember...hey he will be back this Friday and it gives me something to look forward too.

Anyway now that I have you all wondering if I am a complete dlunitic...well yes I am a complete lunitic! But hey when my weekend friend comes back Friday at 4pm I will be all better. :-)

Good morning all, it's a brisk Wednesday morning here in lovly Phoenix, AZ. and I am about to walk out the door. I have my L5R game tonight over at a fiends house and am looking forward to that and my wife will get her offer for permanate work tonight at the company she is temping at! So if all goes well I can stop living paycheck to paycheck and start saving for a house (which is the main reason we moved out here in the first place!)

Ah Monday morning! Crap time to make the donuts!... as I see myself coming back in the house saying"I already made the donuts!" Well that is a how I feel sometimes...I did manage not to hit the snooze button 20 times and get up late. So here I site @ 0545 letting the world know...It's time to make the donuts!!!"

Hey and I got my PDA to sync with outlook 2003 no small task as I find out that the Treo 90 (my style of PDS) has a problem with auto detect and XP! Just my luck...but being the tech savvy guy I am I was able to get it up and running. So if you have a Treo 90 by Handspring, then hit thier website and get the update for it. It does work :-)

Hey all it's Sunday! I had a blast last night, me and 4 of the boys played some Palladium fantsy roleplay! Just a pick up game but all had fun, and that is what's important.

And just a rant here:
I was on my way home Friday around 4pm when I got close to my apt. I noticed taffic slowed down to a crawl...accident of course! Now I thought I left the stupid drivers in CA. when I moved here to Phoenix. Guess not! it was not even a fatal accident just a fender bender! But of course people had to come to a stop and oggle the scene! Well I am glad to say Phoenix P.D. was on the ball I read last night on the local news that 7 yes count them 7 passersby were cited for obstruction of traffice flow! Way to go Phoenix P.D.

So if you are a rubbernecker, be careful here in Phoenix as the cops will ticket you if you are holding up traffic!

Hey it's Friday did I mention that? Well I am excited as my last weekend was CRAP! I hope this one will be better. There will be shrimp on the barbie tonight and a little devils brew in my hand!

hey all well Wednesday is here still home sick! Doc released me today so I will be at the grind Thursday for sure God willing..and if he isn't well tough I am going in anyway! Being sick really sucks, since I am not used to being sick.

Oh well just playing around with the blog ande futzing on the laptop.

Ah well I was keeping a journal on Opera, but you have to join and create a login and all that I just want my friends and anyone else who cares to be able to read my rants and drop a line when they want to!

Anyway on with life 101... Sunday came and I felt a bit under the weather and Monday morning I could not talk and my throat was killing me...Tuesday still no go and a trip to the ER room told me that I was out for the count! Broncitus (sp?) with a ear infection to boot! Lucky me! feh! Ear infection my arse!

Well Wendsday is fast approaching I can not go to work as the ear ache is in my right ear and since I wear a headset all day at work! Well you can do the math there.

Well since I hada crappy week sofar I hope yours is going better.
