Holy cow a post! yeah well walk a block in my shoes buddy!

Nah really just been REAL busy with life 101 as I like to call it. I was over at 1000 Buffalo's site for my daily dose of my best friends world (which apears to be just a crazy as mine!) and noticed this post which I just had to copy here:

The first thing I heard on the radio this morning, pre-California sunshine, was that Syd Barrett passed away last week. Syd was a founding member of Pink Floyd who had to step down before they made it big. That I recall, the band always acknowledged the start Syd have given them, and Wish You Were Here was a tribute to him and his influence.

Not much to say that Pink Floyd hasn’t already said:

Remember when you were young,
You shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there’s a look in your eyes,
Like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire
Of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

Shine on, Syd.

Yes Syd is gone! Pink Floyd holds some very special memories for me and I am sure for allot of use that are in our late 30's or older!

Anyway as Molotov said...shine on Syd, shine on!

Eberron to GURPs

Ok I have been working on the conversion of Eberron to GURPs 4th ed. And I am just about to start a game. I think I have it all together (at least in the mind!). I have all the Eberron books except the book of magic for Eberron and it is on my list of things to get, can you say eBay!

But what I really wanted to talk about is the Players Guide to Eberron, wow what a great book! What a great job on this book, I mean everything is just … well GREAT! I mean there are not a lot of “crunchy bitz” such as rules or setting specific rules just for D&D 3.5. I mean I got it on the recommendation of my FLGS owner Darren at as he knows I am working on the conversion and I must say do yourself a favor and pick this book up if you like character setting and area based knowledge of a fantasy setting. This could almost be a GURPs book already as the game related stuff is very minimal as I said before and the “What you know” section of each new topic can easily convert to any game system.

If you are like me and love the concept or flavor of Eberron but not a huge fan of the D&D mechanics, grab this book it will give you a wealth of info for your game if you want to use the Eberron setting and not the cannon rules of D&D.

So in short go buy this book if you think you might want more info on Eberron or may use it in a campaign setting.

Gaming 2005

Ok so I have not posted in a bit and I apologize for that.  I just was inspired by Molotov to post my gaming review for year 2005!

L5R or I ran a small campaign for 3-4 of my local friends here in Phoenix. Fun had by all and we all enjoyed the 3rd ed. Rules

HARP or  While I have not Gmed the game yet I do have the main book and 2 of the supplements, HARP has been referred to as Rolemaster light! HARP stands for High Adventure Role-Playing and is a rule set with no setting to speak of. I really like the character creation rules and it has a very different spin on the whole fantasy setting. Give it a try I think you will like it. Also ICE has all the books as PDF’s right from their site.

GURPs or : I am playing in a 4th Ed. Game Fantasy at the moment and have been working on my conversion of Eberron from WotC to GURPs as I think GURPs handles fantasy better than D20. If you have not checked it out you should there is a free primer of GURPs Lite on the site.

M&M or : M&M has to be my all time favorite RPG system for it’s ease of use and playability! If you have not checked out the world’s greatest superhero game then please give it a test drive you will not be disappointed!

Well that’s about all for me for the year of 05. I would have loved to play more but life 101 got in the way a lot! I hope to make a better year of 06 that’s for sure. I have a new job and it is permanent and looks to be a good fit for now.

I have made a few repairs to the house and with the new job and influx of cash that that brings I hope to be able to fix the dry rot spots before the next monsoon season and the rain.

Oh well I think that is all! Happy New Year and may 2006 be better for you and yours.

Eberron to Gurps

Eberron to Gurps

So I started today on converting D&D’s Eberron to GURP’s 4th Edition. Wow got the Warforged done and he breaks down to just over a hundred points! But he is cool! I really like what can be done with GURP’s and I just do not like D&D 3.5, it is too mechanical for me!

So I will soon be putting up a website with my conversions and info for the game. The great thing about GURP’s is it supports other games as in my case you will still need to get the core Eberron books just for the setting.

I hope to get the site up soon and would love feedback or if you are a GURP’s gamer and want the GCA files I can send them to you for your review.

The falling prices of pertrol

The falling prices of petrol here in Phoenix.

I have been noticing a slow decline in the price of gas over the last month. Not sure where you are at but here in Phoenix, AZ. We hit a high of about $2.67 and it has dropped steadily to the current price of $2.35 today.

I know the major oil refineries all posted major profit earnings this year, go figure! Who’d of thunk it! Sheer genius their guys! Well at least the price is dropping my only concern is that we have set the stage for the major companies to raise their prices once or twice a year and we will pay it and they again will post major profit earnings for the year! It truly is a vicious cycle.

Out of gas post more later!

Today is the day

Today is the day!

Ok so today I am supposed to start a new job with a nationwide web hosting company that is setting up shop here in Phoenix. Now first off let me say that this job was supposed to kick off last week early, it did not! Because of that I had to miss GenCon SoCal and my best friend Brian. I was not pleased at all!

So I should get a call soon telling me when and where to report and then I will be employed again. I am supposed to run their helpdesk and have about 10 techs under me to supervise. Now I must say I am not a fan of helpdesk at all. I do not have the patience to sit there and listen to someone bitch about whatever it may be that they think they have a problem with! Hence why I have the nickname “Mr. Mean” given to me by my best friend Brian! Now you ask why did I take this job, simple economics…. I NEED MONEY! (

With the mortgage and the bills I just cant afford to be picky about work at the moment. I did however inform my agency that I would not be happy as a manager of a helpdesk and she assured me that I would not be on the phones. I would be helping my techs answer calls and providing guidance! Hah me giving guidance! Oh that is funny! …. Ahem! Sorry, lost it there for a minute, better now. Really though I am looking forward to the challenge as I was able to get one of my friends from my local gaming group a job there as well! So can’t be all that bad. At least for him, he went from working at the local discount electronics store making barley above minimum wage to almost double if not more. So even if I do not stay there at least I know Andy will have a job. So I feel good about that.

Well will post later. Lets hope I get the call and go to work today!

OK Unemployment suck

OK Unemployment sucks!

First off let me say sorry for the lack of posting, the last two weeks have been hell! Here is what’s been happening….

So I leave a semi perm job to take a better paying perm job direct hire and closer to home, all sounds great so far right?  Wrong! There is this big miscom between the agency and the company and it turns out they do not need a full time IT person but a one day a week person. Well no biggy I say, I left the other job on good terms I will see if I can go back so I contact the other temp agency to see if I can go back, nope! They already filled my position. ARGH! And the worst part is now I am completely out of a job! And I had to look my 6 and a ½ year old in the face and tell him we cannot go to oh man when he started crying it really hit home. Needless to say I am back on the market looking for work. Life sucks!
