Happy Wednesday!

Ungh! Wed morning got my coffee and had a light breakfast….ungh!

On the good news Evelyn and I are in escrow for our house here in Phoenix! It is a nice house about 1600 sq. feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. I am turning the formal dining room into my game room! So what does this mean to you the “mooks” well it means that you have a place to stay if you come out and visit! We have the house inspection next week so wish us luck!

On the gaming front I just pre paid for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd edition! I also helped playtest it so I am very excited about the book. I ran the intro adventure in the back of the book for 3 of my players and all went well! We all liked the new rules and had a blast.

Ah well gotta go and get some work done will post laters.

What a goregeous day!

Wow it was all gloomy this morning and now the sun is out and there is a slight breeze, amazing I tell you. I know that in about another month it will be hotter than….well you now who’s house way down below! But for right now it is sweet! I mean the birds are singing and the breeze is blowing, it just does not get any better than this.

Well I just want to keep everyone up to date and trying to get in the posting mode at least once a week and it is really fun and my friends and family can get a little glimpse into my life.

Peace and be well all.

A dreary day

Well Monday has come and gone and Tuesday is here and the sun poked out for a minute, just a minute!

So while I was feeling down and a little depressed it dawned on my that I had just helped my good friend Darren get a job here at the state in our mail room. This got me thinking that just a few years ago I was living out of my car, had no money and no place to call my own. Wow what a twist of fate as back then there was a lady named Patricia and she was my good friends girlfriends mother. While she could not stand my friend dating her daughter, I on the other hand was prince charming! Go figure, I do not know what she saw in me but she helped me get on my feet after my car had died while going up the grapevine out side of Bakerfields CA. and sent me money for a bus ride and even helped my get a room for rent! I remember asking why she was helping me and she said that one day I would be in a position to help someone and that I should remember this day and return the favor to whomever needed my help. Well it’s been over twenty years but I still remember Pat helping get into my room for rent in Livermore and telling me that all would be ok. And here I am today twenty something years later and my good friend Darren was out of work, no place to live, and forced with the idea of driving back home to Minnesota! I remembered talking with the mail-room supervisor and asking her where the front desk clerk was and her telling me with a sad face that she had to “let him go” when it just clicked “Hey I have a friend who needs a job!” and wow it took a month but today he started and is gainfully employed by the state of AZ. Life can be kind sometimes.

Just made me think of all the help my friends have given my along the way and that what comes around goes around! Darren is staying with me and the family till he can get a few paychecks under his belt and I hooked him up with a friend who need a roommate for his house so in the end it appears all has worked out.

Now I know this sounds weird coming from mister Mean and all but hey even the abominable Snow man had a heart…so I have a chance right!

Oh the joy of buying a house!!! ARGHHHHH!

Well we had the bid in and all looked good, then someone came in and made a higher bid. RATS! Well back to the grind. But on the good side we did find another house in the same area, so again wish us luck!

The saga continues…..

Home buying 101!

Whew, the weekend came and went and we were out looking at houses all weekend. But I am happy to say that we found one!!!! YEAH!!! It is a very cool house, built in 1970 by a local builder with a good reputation. We are very pleased I would have liked it to be a lilttle larger in the square footage but hey it has all the things we were looking for in a house! It has a pool and a large back yard and a nice front yard as well. And the icing on the cake for me… a in-law or quest house! Which really means a GAME ROOM!

I have plans to put a small fridge and a couch in there and the table that we currently use in the dinning room as the game table. Of course it is not that big but big enough for all my game stuff and a few things to make gaming easy. Since I now have 3 laptops plus my main pc just for me I am going to set up a mini network and have it so all my players can IM and send me private notes if need be. I have run across several decent software suites that will do this but if any of you guys know of something shot it my way I would love to look at it.

Needles to say I am quite excited, so wish me and the family the best so I can start gaming in a house and not in a crappy (well not so crappy) apartment!

Peace!

Wow I can type...sort of!

I know it’s been awhile since my last blog but hey I have been busy! Really…ok not really!

My friend Jessie has also started a blog and you can read what he has to say at Jessies blog on his RPG world .

Anyway reading his and seeing that he has involved his son and his friend in the wonderful world of rpg’s just makes me think of how bad my son Jonathan wants to play (he is 6!). I am looking forward to the day I can include him in my favorite hobby, now he gets to play a lilttle now as I let him role the dice in my home game sometimes. Man do his eyes light up, and the smile is ear to ear. I can see his face now as I tell him to go get “his” dice! This is the type of look a dad lives for, pure joy!

Well whats new with me…just getting over a nasty case of phnumonia (sp?) was in the hospital and all! Lucky me, I was out of work for a solid week, but I did manage to kick it and get back to work.

Oh and happy news my wife got a job with the state as well and is a now a supervisor in a accounting dept for the state. I am also working very hard to get a good friend of mine Darren a job here at AZDEQ with me.

On the rpg front I was bitten by the GURPS bug thanks to Jessie! but I have to say I am really enjoying the game and it’s mechanics and the ability to portray anykind of genre and or theme. Now if they can just get the character builder out that would be great.

Well I will try and update a lilttle more regularly. Till then peace.
